A GRISAILLE AND GILT ASIAN SUBJECT TEA BOWL AND SAUCER
CIRCA1755
Each piece finely decorateden grisaille. Typically, grisaille painting contained European figures, but, as this pair demonstrates, Chinese artists did occasionally paint Asian figures en grisaille.
CONDITION:

Bowl: Excellent condition, a chip, a couple frits and one veryfaint hairline. Strong, dark grisaillepainting. Diameter: 3”, Height: 1.75”.

Saucer: Excellent condition, a .25” chip that from the frontlooks more like a frit and a very faint hairline in the well. Diameter: 4.75”, Height: 1”.
