Very Fine Quality, Ottoman Empire Solid Silver Filigree and Copper Basket. c1860.

Features the highest quality intricate solid silver and copper filigree work. It is Ottoman Turkish rather than Chinese or Persian filigree and dates to the mid to late 19th century.

The most delicate filigree seems to be solid silver and the thicker, structural wires are a high grade copper.

The basket is large with a diameter of 217mm or 8 and 1/2 inches. It stands on 4 filigree feet.
It has losses to the filigree in several areas and is everso slightly out of shape but really it is an amazing survivor given how delicate it is. Essentially it is a very fine and extremely rare example of Ottoman metalwork.
