Very High Precision NAB HubAdaptors !

A growing number ofremanufactured parts and accessories are available for tape recorders. Some ofthese, e.g. NAB adapters can cause damage to the recorder mechanism, due toeccentricity up to even tens of grams. In case of fast forward and rewind,together with the tape reel this can add up and cause an unwanted vibration,resulting the costly need of replacing the winding motor bearings, which cancost up to several hundreds of Dollars.

Such low quality product canalso damage the tape itself; heavily magnetized mounting screws can cause amajor faliure by ruining treasured archive recordings. These screws are within2 centimeter from the tape, thus the unwanted magnetic flux can penetrate 3-5centimeters into the tape, causing drop-outs (see photos).

Thanks to the specialengineering and technology of Precision Modified Revox NAB Hubs, these errorsare eliminated. Centering surfaces have been created inside the rings, ensuringthe minimalization of the eccentricity problem, resulting 0,2 grams ofeccentricity value, and carefully selected antimagnetic steel screws withintenth of grams of weight disparity are added to match.

Up until now, two versions ofRevox NAB adapters were manufactured, both with different sizes. The originalversion was manufactured by the Revox company in the 1970’s, using a grayplastic material. Later in the 1990’s, the technology has been sold and theproduction has been continued using ABS, a black colored plastic material,resulting almost half millimeter smaller hubs and, wobbling reels on the taperecorders.
