Up for sale is a well-crafted antique Cherokee Indian splint oak storage basket. It has beautiful detailing, with its walnut patterned stripes on the sides. Be sure to notice the square base which morphs to a round body with a slightly flared rim. The basket also features oak-wrapped rims, and a bentwood oak frame. This basket would have been intended for actual use as a storage basket for personal items or foodstuffs. This beautifully woven old (from the early years of the past century) Cherokee Indian splint oak basket will make a terrific addition to someone\'s collection.

The basket is a nice deep size for one of these Cherokee baskets. It measures 10\" across at the rim and 10½\" deep. Because of its age, it has several flaws, the most obvious being an area on the base where several of the oak weavers are missing. However, this doesn\'t show when the basket is on display. The corners and rim are intact with no damage, and the basket still displays very well. See photos, as they give a true picture of the basket\'s features and condition. It\'s a very nice old Cherokee Indian splint oak basket with an awesome aged patina.
