Very Rare Over Glaze Royal Copenhagen Figure \"Soldier and the Dog\" No 1156:

This is an extremely rare figure made by Royal Copenhagen of a soldier and a dog. The characters are from the fairy tale Tinderbox in which this dog has eyes as large as teacups and he is the guardian of the chest of copper coins. The soldier has been assured that he will be safe as long as the dog is on the witch\'s blue checked apron and this is why this composition appears a bit strange without knowing the story.
The figure is rare but even rarer in the over glaze version. The painting of the faces and expressions of the dog and the soldier are beautifully done, please study the photographs using the zoom to fully appreciate the detail.This piece was made between approximately 1930 and 1960 and it is 7.5\" ( 19 cm) high. The base is 2.5\" (6.5 cm) on each side.
I can find no damage or signs of any restoration but please study the photographs as they form part of the description and also read the condition description above.
