Very fine Syrian Islamic Damascene Damascus Cairo-ware silver inlay Plate 1880:

Exceptional quality, antique Cairo-ware inlayed plate - circa 1880.
Done in Syria in the late 19th Century inMameluke revival style.
The plate is small but the quality of work is from the best I have seen - the base metal is bronze, profusely hand-chased / engraved in very tight, elaborate designs in Islamic taste.
The center bears an inscription in Arabic, inlayed in silver - the rim is also applied with silver wire.
The bottom center with an unusual applied or polished circle engraved with a + mark maybe the artist\'s signature.
Very appealing work by a gifted artist - it would make a super addition to any collection.Excellent condition - gentle age ware - please view pictures.
It measures 14.5 cm in diameter.
