Very rare USMC marked 1904 RIA issued Win.-Lee Navy musket 6mm cartridge pouch:

Rare - the only way to describe this item. It is a 1904 Rock Island Arsenal manufactured Navy inspected U. S. Marine Corps marked cartridge pouch intended to hold four five-round clips of 6mm (.236 U.S.N.) cartridges for the the Winchester-Lee Navy straight-pull musket. The pouch also has compartment for a takedown tool. The inspector\'s initials are plain to see. It is rough, but then, it is 111 years old. The exterior finish to the leather is crazed and worn, but the stitching appears to be intact. It has a name or combination of letters in ink on the inside. It has holes in the top and bottom, for what purpose I do not know. Considering the very short service life of the the Winchester-Lee Navy musket, and hard service it saw in Cuba, the Boxer Rebellion and the early days of the Philippine Insurrection, not to mention the fact that only 15,000 of these muskets were accepted into Navy and Marine Corps for service, it\'s a wonder any of these cartridge pouches survived.
