Up for sale is atruly gorgeous and hard to find antique Victorian A.B. Paris French silver over bronze ormolu oval trinket or dresser box. It\'s approx. 5\" long and 4\" wide and over 3.5\" tall which I understand is large for these pieces. The box has a cherub theme with many of them playing musical instruments. The cover has a great scene of a cherub riding a goat or ram which another cherub is feeding--still another cherub has a little drum. All around the sides are panels with scenes of winged cherubs in the clouds and playing musical instruments. The clasp as in photo #3 is pair of cherubs and an oval shield. The inside is lined in blue velvet. As in photo #9 there is a little piece of velvet missing or it might have been a spot with roping and the roping is missing--not certain. But overall the velvet is in pretty good condition considering this piece is 19th century Victorian. The hinge has come loose and needs soldering back or it looks perfectly fine with the lid just placed on top as in my photos. So other than the loose hinge there\'s just a small bend to one of the feet which makes the box wobble a little. I think this would be an easy repair to bend it back but I didn\'t want to try it. The other examples of these beautiful A.B. Paris boxes I\'ve seen have much more wear to the silver than this one. The bottom is marked \"A.B. Paris\" with some of the \"Paris\" imprint hard to read. I purchased this at an estate sale.
