This is just a magnificent antique jewel! This wonderful original Victorian/Edwardian Belle Epoque pendant dates to c1860-1890. The detail on this delicate lavaliere is wonderful. The central round faceted amethyst is absolutely gorgeous! In the center is an intaglio floral motif that is set with three rose cut diamonds! The inlay is most likely silver as it was the custom of the period to set diamonds in silver in order to maximize the sparkle. The stunning carved amethyst is set in a beautiful 14K gold engraved open work pendant with exquisite details. The pendant is set with 10 lovely pearls, including a pearl pendant on the bottom. The overall effect of this original Victorian/Edwardian gem is classic and elegant.

The pendant is in excellent condition. The entire pendant is 65 mm (2 1/2 inches) long including the bales and 20 mm wide. The amethyst set portion without the bales is 42 mm long. The pendant tests for 14K gold. The very top bale may be a later addition and tests for 10-12K gold. The pendant weighs 7.1 grams.
