Victorian Antique 1880s Aesthetic Staffordshire Teapot, DEVONSHIRE, Ridgways:

Measuring 8.5\" h. (including lid) x 4.25\" w., this dark brown transferware teapot & lid was made in the Victorian Aesthetic style by Ridgways, Staffordshire, England in the 1880s. Photo 6 here shows the Ridgways bow & arrow mark beneath the \"DEVONSHIRE\" pattern name.
Diamond-shaped and angular, this teapot features cartouches, or reserves, of birds and flowers against sprays of daisies, marguerites, or cosmos, with a sprigged background design and a top border of stylized sunflowers (which also, in a slightly smaller scale, borders the top of the lid.) It has a sturdy ornate scrolled handle and a smaller scrolled handle on its lid. Theinterior spout features a 5-hole strainer for tea leaves (see photos 7 and 8 here.)
