Victorian Antique Brussels Rose Point de Gaze Duchesse Bobbin Lace Mother of Pearl Fan

This antique Victorian era Belgian Brussels Rose Point de Gaze Duchesse bobbin lace mother of pearl fan dates from the mid 19th century. It is hand made of a sheer off white cream color filmy linen lace, with veined, raised threads flowers and leaves, joined by braided plaits and has Rose Point de Gaze needle lace medallions. This fabulous folding fan has exquisitely elaborate intricately carved and pierced mother of pearl sticks and guards, bone sticks backing the lace top, with a fancy brass ring and mother of pearl rivet holding the fan together at the bottom. There is a white silk knotted fringed tassel trim hanging down from the bottom ring. The fan measures 9 inches long and 17 inches wide when opened. It is in good condition, with only an old patched mother of pearl mended repair to one guard and stick (see bottom photo close-ups). This is truly a rare and exceptional piece of antique Victoriana fan and lace art!
