This linen collar was found in an old trunk, packed away in a storage shed, in the home of my late aunt, who passed away in 2009. The items in the trunk belonged to her first husband and/or his brothers, all of whom were born in the early 1900\'s (1901, etc.) and who attended college and began careers in the 1920s and 1930s. My aunt\'s husband worked for the government in Washington, D.C. in the 1930s and 1940s while he was still a bachelor. The other brothers had engineering careers and worked in many different places in the East over the years. All are deceased now.
Lots of things in these trunks had decayed to the point that they can no longer be used, but I have found many other things that are still beautiful and could still be used and appreciated.
I am going to be listing many items of clothing, linens, etc. that have come from the trunks in the coming week.
The collar is in good condition. It has been used in the past. There are no nips, tears, etc. It would benefit from a trip to the dry cleaners to freshen it up.
Collar has Two (2) Buttonholes for Collar Studs(THE COLLAR STUD SHOWN IN THE PHOTO IS NOT PART OF THE sale!!!!)
If a person wants to wear this collar he will need to buyseparately two collar studs and a collarless shirt with front and back button holes.
It was common for gentlemen to wear detachable collars from about 1870-1920. I will pack this carefully and will ship via USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate.
