Absolutely the finest quality.  The gold filled chain is 62 inches long, or 32 inches when closed as it currently is!  Thus it hangs down 32 inches.  It has a wonderful slide which works beautifully.  The slide has an opal center and is adorned with engraving and black enamel.  At the end is a dog clip for attaching a locket or pendant of your choice.   The necklace dates to the Victorian period, c1860-1890.  A truly wonderful period jewel!!!  The necklace comes from a wonderful New York estate.The necklace is in superb period condition.  There is a slight bit of enamel loss as seen in the photos of the slide.  The necklace is 62 inches long.Treat yourself or a loved one to a treasure to cherish for generations and one which will only increase in value over time!
