Superb Provincial Victorian sterling silver wine cup / goblet, fully hallmarked for 1868.
This is a fine quality silver goblet made by Josiah Williams in Exeter 1868.
The goblet has a flared top rim with a fine band of beading above gently curving sides and standing on a spreading round pedestal base with a matching band of beading to the edge.
The body of the cup has vacant oval cartouches and fine chased leaves and flowers against a textured background.
The inside of the goblet is gilded.
The cup is 3-1/4 inches / 82 mm in diametre and it stands 6-1/4 inches / 160 mm high.
The goblet weighs 142 grams.
The side of the goblet has clear hallmarks - lion passant, Exeter mark, duty mark, letter M for 1868 and maker\'s mark JW & JW for Josiah Williams.
The cup is in excellent condition with no dents, damage or repair.
