Description

A 19th century Grand Tour micro mosaic & human hair bracelet.

I will begin by saying the item is damaged; this is how I bought it, as despite condition, it is a rarity to find Italian micro mosaics in hair jewellery.

It is sold as found/damaged/for spares repairs/restoration or display as is.

The centre piece is an oval red stone inlaid with colourful micro mosaic tiles to form an Italian building/ruins. Sadly, this has a crack right across the centre, although it is completely stable with no movement. It is mounted in a beaded gilt metal frame.

The bracelet is made from three rows of woven hair \'tubing\' that feed into each side of the centre. Some hair has frayed/come away at right side (see photo 6) and been reattached at the other side (some tiny glue spots).

Being quite small, with some frayed hair, it is unclear how much stretching the bracelet will take without the hair coming away from the setting. Therefore it is more suitable for display than wear and this is noted in fairness to the buyer.

Measurements: centre piece is 1.25\" by 1.1\".

I have never seen another piece like this, I believe it is very rare and if there was any way to properly restore the piece, it would be hugely desirable.

All photographs should be be supersized for full, clear detail of item on offer and its condition. They are a major part of the description.
