This is a very beautiful 4\" x 5 1/4\" certificate printed on heavy card stock showing the Vin Fiz in flight as well as a photo of the plane on the ground and a photo of the pilot, Calbraith Perry Rodgers - on the front. On September 17, 1911 Rodgers flew the Vin Fiz from Brooklyn, NY to Pasadena, CA, becoming the first person to fly east to west across the Unitd States.
Attached to the left side of the front of this certificate is a genuine 1/2\" x 1/2\" piece of the original fabric from the Vin Fiz. This was removed by the Smithsonian during a renovation.
On the back of the certificate are two photos of the Vin Fiz hanging from the ceiling in the Smithsonian after its renovation.
This is a beautiful piece and a terrific conversation item.
