Bell Box

This lovely bell box is in "as found" condition and has not been repaired or restored by us.

There are no cracks or chips to the glass. The gold lettering and decoration are still clear, quite vivid and have a good colour, however, the black paint has been repainted at some point in its' life and there are the usual blemishes, crazing and areas of paint loss that you would expect with years of use. The red and white flags are faded, as well as some are a little bruised and battered with creases and splits, they could be replaced with craft paper. The arms holding them move fine. In this model, the flags are reset with a brass handle at the side of the case, this would have originally had a wooden knob.

The jointed wooden case is solid with no signs of woodworm and this has gained a fabulous patina and depth of colour over the years.

It has five windows, they are;

• Trades Ent.
  
• Reception Rm.
  
• Bed Rooms 1 & 2.

It comes in all its' lived in glory, and is a delightful piece of social history that would look great on the wall in your hallway or any other room for that matter.

The case measures 44 cm (17 1/4 inches) long and is 19 cm (7 1/2 inches) wide and is 8 cm (3 1/4 inches) deep.
