Vintage Rare Electrostatic Casting early to mid 1800s Copper Proof Medallion Charger. Medussa in the center of the Platter. 126 separate Medallions of Greek and Roman Gods and sundry Angels, Horses, Figures, Bustsand Faces all incircular rows. The Angel with Trident riding aDolphin is my favorite. Thisis likely a Factory Proof Platter showing all the varieties of brooches, cuff links, rings, medallions, stickpins etc they were capable of manufacture. There is green corrosion near the tab to hang on a wall perhaps from dampness from the wall it was hung on. Electrostatic Casting was invented in the early 1800s using static electricity to draw the metal into the mold in an early plating /castingmethod capable of great detail. The back of the charger is covered with little balls of copper due to the electrical plating charge used. There is some metal scruffing to the edge of the platter from factory filing or rounding out the platter after manufacture and one medallion has light showing when held up where it did not take the full copper deposit needed. Very rare and possible one of a kind.
