- Extremely rare CF Martin 1-21 parlor guitar. In 1865, the logo was changed to “C F Martin & Co., New York.” This version of the logo appears on the neck block inside the body (in those days it was stamped upside down) and also is stamped into the back brace with the “& Co.” legend. Specifications include: 12 ¾” body width, Slotted headstock, 12-frets to the body joint and 17 frets total, A “modified V-shape” neck with comfortable edges sometimes referred to as \"soft-V\". There have been no previous top, back or side cracks or repairs. Its sides, back and headplate are constructed of Solid Brazilian rosewood; Cedar Neck; and gorgeous Red Spruce X-braced top. We have determined that the bridge is likely original to the guitar is set perfectly with no lifting. The slotted headstock has been touched up in the past - as shown in the photographs, there is some evidence where the joint has been secured and there are two hairline cracks around the joint. These are cosmetic blemishes only and do not prevent the instrument from being played another 100 years! The neck is straight and action low for performance. We have 5 of the original bridge pins and one after-market. The original tuners are included: 1 side has all the end buttons but the other does not and will need to be restored with end buttons. The hardware is all original and functional. We will include an after-market side for performance and, as seen in the photos, these replacement tuners left additional screw holes on the right side only. Here is a rare chance to own a functional, and highly playable piece of C.F. Martin and Co. history. Original hand-constructed \"coffin\" style case is included with label intact.
