Solid silver overlay if you give the cap a twist it will open has some initials ingraved on the side also has a pat date on the bottom side it is worn looks like jan5 1886 nicly made came out of a wealthy estate from upstate N.Y.I haven\'t tried to clean it I\'m sure it will shine up nicely other t han normal war e and lite denting on the cap it is in nice shape.
