AVintageRare Markley Alling Co. Double Bit Axe.
A very rare axe. I could not find another after an extensive search.
I\'ll call it a Felling Axe Head.Could be one of several patterns, depending upon the the brand and thesource.
The axe is 9\'\' X 3 3/4\'\' X 3 3/4\'\' and weights 3 lbs 8 oz.
The Markley Alling Co. was a hardware business in Chicago from about 1866 to 1895 when it became simply the Alling Co.
The axe is marked with \'\'RKLEY ALLING & Co. CHICAGO\'\' being legible.
The head is in good condition.And of course made in the U.S.A.I will be listing 3 or 4 dozen axes in the next couple of weeks. And several hatchets to include 4 or 5 shipped to arrive as shown.I try to use many photos to help describe what is listed as the pictures are part of my description. My idea of \"good, excellent, ect\'\' may differ from yours.
