Up for sale is an amazing all original vintage self framed tin advertising sign for Thomas Pepper\'s Son\'s Wholesale Liquor Merchants Ashland, PA. This rare tray ceiling stepped self-framed whiskey liquor sign is in fantastic all original condition with brilliant bright lithography colors as shown in the photos. The litho sign has a black metal designed frame with some scratches and marks as seen in the photos. The advertising portion is in wonderful condition with no flaws to speak of, again as you can see in the photos.
Pepper\'s had three sons. Thomas was a distiller, John was a liquor merchant and Frank was also a cigar salesman. But all three ran the whiskey business in Schuykill County (Pottsville, PA) area. The two brands of whiskey advertised on this sign are Old Rap and Valley Brook, both of which were trademarked in 1905.
This sign is extremely rare as there is probably only a handful of advertising items to ever come out of the tiny town of Ashland, Pennsylvania. This sign would make for a wonderful back bar centerpiece. There is no manufacturer listed on this sign. It is all original with only minimal wear along the edges of the frame. Back has some age rusting but nothing but on the surface and does not go through metal to the litho advertising area. Front litho advertising area is very strong, bright colors and super pre-prohibition graphics. This sign measures 28.25 by 22.25. Please see my other advertising items listed to end next week.
