Vintageauthentic early 1900\'s very well-made heavy double edge solid metal and ivory (bakelite or celluloid early plastic?) handle Masonic Mason Freemason fraternal ceremonial dress sword with a matching metal sheath scabbard. The sword was made for the Knights of Templar group. It is very ornate with many engravings, inscriptions, etchings, etc. The base of the sword is marked \"Horstmann, Philadelphia\". The sword has a very ornate ivory or early type of plastic handle with a red enamel or porcelain red cross insert that shows damage as pictured. The reverse of the handle shows a worn and faded ornate inscribed or etched monogram of the owner \"HM\".The top has a Templar Knight head in a suit of armor helmet. The chain is still there.The ornate bottom of the handle shows a knight\'s head with \"Knights Templar\". The blade of the sword is color etched on both sides. One side reads \"Herman H. Mithoefer\" with many scenes almost the entire length. The other side has etched or inscribed scenes of battle almost the entire length.The scabbard is beautifully and ornately engraved with \"Presented To Emt. Sir Herman H. Mithoefer, By The Drill Corps Of Cyrene, Comdy. (Commandery) No. 7 K. T., Camden, N. J., Dec. 17, 1903\". The brass or bronze scabbard has areas of very detailed raised graphics - top area where the two loops are display a fallen soldier and the cross and crown, the middle area which displays a Templar Knight and the bottom area which displays a coat of arms type graphic. The tip of the scabbard has a red enamel or porcelain cross with the porcelain damaged on the end. The reverse of the red cross shows a blue enamel or porcelain cross with damage to the tip also. The back of the three areas are also engraved. On the front between the top and second pieces there is an engraved scene of a horse mounted Knight carrying a \"K. T.\" Flag. between the second and third pieces there is an engraved scene of another style of coat of arms or symbols. The scabbard is very well-made and extremely ornate. It displays beautifully. The scabbard measures 31 1/8\" long. The sword alone measures 35 1/4\" long. Together they measure 38 3/8\" long. The sword and sheath show great use wear and patina and some minor damage to the enamel/porcelain areas. This item is sold as is and as pictured with returns not accepted. $30.00 postage.
