VINTAGE 1920\'S SOWERBY MARIGOLD CARNIVAL GLASS SALAD OR BERRY BOWL
BEAUTIFUL IRIDESCENCE
WIDE PANELS AND 26-RAYED STAR
This beautiful carnival glass bowl has been a part of our collection for over a decade. We believe it to have been made in England by Sowerby\'s Ellison Glass Works in the 1920\'s. The pattern consists of a huge star with 26 rays in the footed base of the bowl with wide panels up the sides ending in a curved top. The bowl has a flaring lip and is larger than the typical berry bowl thus we are referring to this piece as an individual salad bowl. The marigold color has a gorgeous iridescence (see 2nd photograph above) visible even without backlighting.
The bowl measures almost 5-3/4\" across the lip and stands a little over 1-3/4\" tall. The base measures about 3-1/2\" in diameter.
This bowl is in excellent condition with no nicks, chips or cracks and no perceptible wear to the iridescent coating.
