Lovely satin evening bag from the 1930s. This belonged to my mother, who was born in 1920. She had a wonderful bias-cut evening dress, and I can just imagine her carrying it while wearing that dress.
This bag has a pretty design outlined in gold-covered thread on one side, and filled in with pearl beads (fake, I am sure) on the other side.
The edges are pleated.
The interior is exceptionally clean--no marks. Still there: two safety pins (because you have to be prepared, ladies!).
The zipper pull is not attached to the zipper, but I\'ve tucked into the inside pocket. The words impressed on the large circle for the zipper pull: \"KOVER ZIP\" and the zipper pull is further decorated with elongated diamond shapes. The zipper has metal teeth, of course. A quick Google search of the words \"Kover Zip\" produced several advertisements from the mid-30s and early-40s.
