Vintage 1931 Ohio Art tin-litho child\'s toy tea set \"Mother Goose\":
$92.00

This is one of Ohio Art\'s wonderful early sets, produced between 1931 and 1933. All of the pieces depict scenes from different nursery rhymes and have orange borders; the cups have green handles. The saucers have no raised interior borders to hold the cups, indicative of Ohio Art\'s earliest style of saucer.
This sale includes 14 pieces: four cups, six saucers and four plates. Some of the pieces look as though they were never used. Everything is marked, \"Ohio Art Co. Bryan, Ohio U.S.A.\"
I HAVE LOWERED ALL OF MY PRICES AS I NEED TO CLEAR THINGS OUT. I WILL CONSIDER ANY REASONABLE OFFER.
SCENES:Cups: There are five images (from five different nursery rhymes) surrounding the cup. Starting to the left of the handle, Little Boy Blue lies asleep, leaning against a haystack. Next comes Old Mother Hubbard, who shows her poor dog her empty cupboard. This scene is followed by Tom running away with a pig. Next is a boy fishing in a bucket, which, I think, is supposed to represent Simple Simon fishing in his mother\'s pail. The last image is of Little Bo Peep without her sheep.Saucers: Jack and Jill are tumbling down the hill with the water spilling out of their pail.Plates: Mother Goose stands in the foreground, holding an open book in her left hand and an umbrella in her left. A large white goose stands in front of her, while a small cottage with smoke rising from the chimney is behind her to the left. The house is surrounded by trees and sky. One plate has silhouettes of geese surrounding the border, indicating that it was probably the earliest of the four plates.
DIMENSIONS:Cups: 1 1/2\" tallSaucers: 2 5/8\" diameterPlates: 4 1/4\" diameter
CONDITION:Cups: All of the cups have minuscule to tiny flea bites on the lithos and handles. Although the interiors have oxidized, the silver still shines through, especially in three of the cups. I doubt any of them was ever used.Saucers: One saucer is in excellent condition, with only some tiny scratches and small areas of paint loss on the border and rim. The other saucers all have more flaws, including a few spots of rust, a little litho loss, some surface discoloration and wear around the borders and rim. None of these things interfere with how well the pieces display.Plates: All plates have a tiny amount of scratching, border and rim wear. One plate has a number of dings and small dents, and the other two have some surface discoloration.
