Vintage 1940\'s Fred Harvey El Grandee Chimayo Hand Woven Wool Clutch Purse
Clean & in excellent condition, this cool old authentic Fred Harvey El Grandee hand woven wool Chimayo clutch purse has a lovely design & great colors. A red, black, burgundy & white classic Chimayo Indian style woven design against a light blue background. The purse is zippered, with the original talon ring zipper pull, and has an interior label marked \"El Grandee Fred Harvey 100% Wool, Hand Woven in New Mexico\".
It measures 7.5\" wide by 5\" deep. It is in great shape... much cleaner than you usually find & near mint. The only very minor signs of age is a small & subtle surface mark on the lower front (seen in last photo), where a couple of stitches look darker than the others, & a few very insignificant & tiny faint marks to the satin lining. No color bleeding, no holes, no soiling, no repairs. The zipper functions fine & the purse displays beautifully.
Chimayo weaving has it\'s origins in the 1700\'s, and was started by Spanish Colonial settlers in Chimayo, New Mexico. The Ortega & Trujillo families have carried out the traditional Chimayo weaving for many generations. Design work incorporates traditional Spanish motifs with the Rio Grande & Pueblo designs of New Mexico.
