I am delighted to offer for this this fantastic oil painting by listed artist Barbara Stevenson also known as Judith Deim. A great use of colors and structure make for a wonderful piece! I really like this work of art. Signed on the back Barbara Stevenson and titled Water Tower with a price of $75! That was a lot of money back in the 1940\'s. Judging by some of her other pieces I date this from 1945-50. She was active in New York and California. The oil on board measures 16 by 12 inches. Housed in its original wood frame with an overall measurement of 19 by 14 3/4 inches. Ready to be hung and enjoyed! Please ask all questions prior to placing a offer! Thanks~ BiographyJudith DeimModernist painter and muralist, Barbara Stevenson used the pseudonym of Judith Deim and has had an active career based in California while wandering many parts of the world.
She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 11, 1911 and studied at the St. Louis School of Fine Art on a scholarship, graduating in the middle of the Depression. She earned money by working on the Federal Arts Project, and a post office mural project took her to California in the mid 1930s. After the completion of that project, she assisted former classmate Ellwood Graham with murals in the Ventura Post office, and later they married.
From 1952, she began traveling extensively, and in the late 1960s, lived with her children in Spain.
