This piece truly epitomizes thesporty and elegantwatch of the late 1940\'s and early 1950\'s!! Watch is triple signed on case, dial and movement.
The Wakmann Watch Co. was established in New York. WAKMANN was the importer of different high quality brands for the north-american market. One of those brands and surely the most famous was Breitling. Some of them even got a double-signature and were sold as \"BREITLING WAKMANN\". Parallel to the sales-business, WAKMANN started to produce his own watches after World War II.
All the watches were taken from sellers in europe and most of them from switzerland. This time, WAKMANN already the watches of Wakmann have been with a maximum of style, quality and technicaly know-how. Specially the technical part was one of the most controlled and checked parts and highest quality was allways one of the main features. This explains, why WAKMANN watches have always been one of the favorite brands for collectors watchlovers. First of all the different Valjoux chrono-movements with ratched, like the caliber 72, 88, 730 and the very rare and seldom Valjoux 92.
Because of the really outstanding qualit and the conclusive precision of the watches, WAKMANN was able to establish oneself as official producer and deliverer for the military. Next to wristwatches,WAKMANN was also the deliverer of onboard-watches for the military forces. Even the fact that WAKMANN was official producer and deliverer for the U.S. Military shows, how perfect the quality of WAKMANN watches is.

Case: Veryclean, correct and originalChromium & Stainlessthree piece case with good patina and has been nicely detailed. Totally rugged case measures roughly 32mm across to crown and 38mm in length from lug to lug. Showing varying signs of wear and brassing around the bezel and crown while case back is still in very good original condition!! Could bereplated ifdesired or simply left as original. As stated above, the case has more wear while case back isnear perfect still retaining all of the original finish and remarkably has no dings or dents! TheStainless Steel / Swisscase backinside is signed WakmannWatch Co. / Swiss.Screw downback case tight and is devoid of the usual abuse and case tool markings and original and clean plastic crystal in near perfect condition!! Clear with no major scratches, scuffs, dust or cracks of any kind.
Dial & Hands:Awesome looking and near mint original, highly detailed brushed gray satin dial markedWakmann / Antichoc / Antimagnetic / 17 Rubis.Dial is accented by outer perimeter seconds andtachymetre register in blue. Inner 1/5 second, phone timer and 30 minute register at the 3 position. Additionally, accented by Goldnumerals arrow hour markers!! OriginalGold-Filledfilledhandsthat are in good WakmannWatch Co.movement marked17 Jewel / Unadjusted/ Swiss with manufacturers mark of WOS (Wakmann). Movement (most likely Valjoux) is clean, working well and was completely cleaned, overhauled, timed and detailed by my watchmaker some time ago, a Certified Technician, who specializes in vintage watches. That saida vintage watch willnot have the same accuracy as a modern quartz watch.That said, as I can\'t monitor the care the piece receives during shipping, I always encourage the new owner to have additional fine tuning performed by a competent jeweler upon delivery.
Band:NOS and original1950\'s European FARDleather sport band with finished edges in Chocolatewhich perfectly accents the dial. GoldToneoriginal buckle is flawless with with no wear and looks as new!!We take great pride in matching up our restored pieces with the most accurate looking NOS vintage bands to maintain that original vintage look and integrity.
