Vintage 1946 KEM Inc. Aces Playing Cards Bottle Shaped Cigarette Lighter :

For your consideration is this unique, vintage 1946, small beer bottle shaped, Aces high playing cards, cigarette lighter made by KEM Inc., Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.At one time, I had a cigarette lighter collection to which this was a part of. I believed I had already sold all the lighters in the collection until I recently came across a few more pieces. To that end, I\'ll be listing these newly discovered pieces until all are sold.According to the \"Toledo-Bend\" website \"Vintage Cigarette Lighters\", this lighter was manufactured in 1946 making it nearly 70 years old. This collectible lighter is a two-part piece made of pressed metal. The bottom half of the lighter features the four different Aces contained in a deck of playing cards on a black background and serves as the lighter\'s cover. The top half (neck of the bottle) contains the actual lighter mechanism. The two piece when together measure approximately 2-5/8\" tall, 5/8\" in diameter at the base and 5/16\" in diameter at the bottle cap top. The top half measures approximately 2.50\" long when measured from the bottle cap end to the top of the flint wheel. The bottom half of the lighter (the cover and part displaying the cards) measures approximately 1.25\" long. The lighter\'s chrome finish remains in good condition showing signs of honest use and wear with a few areas of oxidation. All four Ace playing cards remain clearly visible. Please refer to the description photos for more details about what I have described. The bottom half of the lighter displays the following Ace playing cards.\"Ace of Spades\" (Black)
\"Ace of Hearts\" (RED)
\"Ace of Clubs\" (Black)
\"Ace of Diamonds\" (Red)The bottom of the lighter is embossed with additional information that reads as follows.\"PAT. APPLIED FOR\"The lighter portion of this piece is embossed with three (3) lines containing the company\'s name and location. The below information appears around the outer side of the head just underneath the striker wheel.\"KEM Inc.\"
\"DETROIT, MICH.\"
\"MADE IN U. S. A.\"The lighter\'s flint wheel spins freely but does not currently strike a spark. All my cigarette lighters were for display purpose only, and I never attempted to repair and/or dismantle any of them. My only interest in collecting lighters was how they looked, their individual designs and how nicely they displayed alongside each other. Nevertheless, I assume all this lighter needs to operate is a flint as everything else appears to be clean and in order. Regardless, I cannot imagine it takes much effort to refurbish and/or repair these simple devices. The aforementioned notwithstanding, I would rather err on the side of caution so please understand, because this lighter is not currently striking sparks, I am offering the piece for display purposes only and in \"AS IS\" condition for \"Parts and/or Repair\".Overall, this is a nice looking 69 year old piece of vintage cigarette and Tobacco advertising that, regardless of its current functionality, still displays the same and looks good when displayed among other vintage cigarette lighters. Please look at the photos closely as they accurately depict the cigarette lighter I describe and show exactly what you will receive if you purchase this lighter. If you have any questions, please email me and I will respond ASAP. Good luck.PLEASE LOOK AT THE OTHER ITEMS I CURRENTLY HAVE LISTED, AND CONTINUE TO LIST, ON . THANKS!
