Hello! Up for offer is this most fabulous 1950s vintage D.Porthault banquet tablecloth measuring96\" by 166\". I have it pictured on my small oval table quadrupled, that is, folded twice.
I sent pictures to the New York store of D. Porthault and received an email back identifyingthis piece as made in the late 50s and numbered #5326. At that time, there wereno names given to the designs but the store wrote \"the print is an old floral print, a mixture of the Pivoneesand the Daisie Marguerites\".
It has the old D. Porthault label and linen was the ultimate fabric for table covers at that time.This one is at least approximately60years old and in beautiful condition. There is butone small flaw which measures 1/4\" by 1/4\". To me, (and I do confess I know nothing aboutvintage linens) it looks that a tiny stain may have been cleaned and the process broke 3 or 4strands of the linen.
I very carefully ironed the entire cloth and I just found the one flaw. The last 2 pictures are close ups of that spot. If a buyer would like me to put one drop of fray check on the flaw, Ican do that but will not do so until told to. Perhaps a re-weaver could correct this with some old linenthread.
Our home is smoke, pet, perfume and even candle-free as we are allergic. Shipping is via USPSboxed priority mail. I will wrap very carefully with acid-free tissue. This gorgeous cloth would bebeautiful for a wedding or any other special occasion!
