Description

Up for sale is a Vintage “Solox” Denatured Alcohol Solvent Advertising Tin Can! This product was made by the U.S. Industrial Chemicals Co. in New York, NY back in the 1950s and early 1960s! This is a rare empty One Quart metal (tin) can measuring about 6⅞” tall (7¼” to top of cap) x 4½” wide x 2¼” deep. The tin has nice bright color lithography in red, white and blue with great advertising graphics. The solvent could be used as a shellac thinner, alcohol fuel, or cleaning aid following the directions printed on its back. As shown in the photos, the tin is in excellent condition for its age with very little surface wear or soiling. There are very few small scratches or marks and possibly a light dent or ding typical for a container this old. The top of the can is in nice shape with some surface soiling and a few small paint specks, and the bottom is still nice and shiny. The can has its original red metal screw cap with the USI logo in white. The can is empty but may have a little residual liquid inside. This vintage “Solox” Denatured Alcohol advertising tin can would make a great addition to your collection!
