For sale is this classic Shure Brothers 55S blue labelUnidyne multi-impedance microphone produced in Chicago in 1953 as noted by thefirst 2 digits of the serial number 5313 in the photo. It is fully functional with strong output and is in great condition with noserious scratches, pitting, blisters or corrosion on the chrome as shown in thephotos. The silkscreen is in excellent condition on all sides with no visibleholes or tears in the fabric, and the blue frontShure emblem and blueShure serial number ID tag are both present and in very good condition.The adjustment joint for angling the microphone is nice and tight and thethreading for the stand and the connector are also in very good condition withno evidence of cross threading.It is rare to find a microphone this age in such great condition and it willmake a great microphone for professional stage use or a worthy addition to anycollection.sale includes a fitted, foam lined carry case.I have also had a few questions about the color of the screen and foundthis information in the Shure Company\'s archive:What you are seeing is the correct color screen thatShure used between 1947 and 1955. Most people don\'t realize that Shure usedmany different materials and colors for their screens over the years.For reference, see this article (page 45) published by the Shure Company atthis link: 1947 - 1955 they used a maroon colored organza cloth for the screen, whichis what\'s in this microphone and correct for the period.The cloth screen and element are original to the microphone and nothing hasbeen altered or replaced.
