Hello my name is John. I restore, recondition vintage microphones fordisplay, prop and functional use.I am offering this 1953 Shure Brothers DY 12 unidyne dynamic microphone. As the style and classic blue labels indicate, this is the same as the classic 55 S. As I understand the only difference was that they sold it with some additional accessories. Just as the Stromberg Carlson is the same with another name placed on the front label. This one was produced in 1953 as indicated by the first 2 digits of the serial number, in Chicago before they moved to Evanston, Il. The signal is very weak on this element and would not be suitable for functional use. The cosmetic condition is average to above average for this model and would make a nice display or prop piece.The chrome is still in good condition with some scuffs and scratches consistent with age and use and some pitting. The burgundy silk screen is not as common to see. This one has a few small pin holes mostly on the front underside panel. The body has no bends or breaks and the adjustment joint is nice and tight for angling the microphone.Both blue labels are intact and in good condition as is the threading for mounting on a stand.
