Vintage 1960 Signed Van Dell 12K G.F. Carved Daisy Open Circle Brooch No Stones

Circa 1960’s, this is a small to medium sized, 12k gold filled, triple daisy brooch. Van Dell Co. hand carved these daisy flowers which feature checkerboard yellow enamel centers, white celluloid spike petals and three 12k gold filled leaves around the flowers for a well balanced piece. The details are spectacular. It is signed on the back, Van Dell 1/20 12K G.F. It has a perfectly working roll over clasp.

This piece is in pristine condition showing almost no wear even though it is previously owned. It came to me from an estate sale in Ohio. I have not cleaned or polished it.

Approximate Measurements:

Diameter: 1 3/8 inches

Weight: 4.2 grams

This would be an exceptional piece for the collector due to its condition, the amazing details and the sweet daisy subject.

This is NOT a new light-weight copy import from you know where! It is old world made with care and craftsmanship by the Van Dell Co. Vintage items may show the transit of time, but that’s their allure.

From the Internet:

“When Van Dell made their pieces, there were not many made, it was considered high quality jewelry and only a few pieces were made which makes it rare.”

“The Van Dell Corporation was founded in in 1938 in Providence Rhode Island. The company manufactured well made sterling silver, gold filled and gold plated jewelry rather than more commonly made costume jewelry in base metal. This is one of the reasons for the scarcity of the designs, since fine metal jewelry is not made in the quantities that costume jewelry was made. Many of Van Dell’s designs used cultured pearls and interesting rhinestones and other stones such as Austrian Crystals. They also included genuine hand carved cameos in their range. The jewelry was of high quality and was meant to resemble fine jewelry. Some of their early pieces sold for $65 or more in the 1960s. The mark Van Dell was first used in 1939. As with many of the designers of the middle of the 20th century. In 1998 the Colibri Company, based in London, England, who own Krementz jewelry, purchased the company.”
