Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at an older 1960\'s era Calrad DM-16 dynamic dual Z microphone with original cable, box and adjustable Lanier desk stand. This unique microphone was produced by a couple Japanese manufacturers and looked very similar to the Famous American Astatic 77A of the 1950\'s.

This microphone utilizes a dynamic type element that can be used on High Z and Low Z with the flick of the switch and it works very well. This can be used for any live event and has zero functional issues. It would make a nice display or prop piece as well if you don\'t care for using it.

The Calrad DM-16 H.L had a very masculine design with hard edges and a very modern look for it\'s time. Some microphones of that period were getting a boxier look just as the cars were. The DM-16 has a satin chrome finish that really pops and as you can see there are just a few small cosmetic flaws in the form of scuffs, lite scratches and tiny pitting but you have to get up real close to notice any of it. The mic is free of any dents, fractures and it\'s solid. Nothing loose. The Calrad is missing it\'s rear badge though but this is absolutely a DM-16 model. The switch works perfectly giving you the ability to adjust the sound of the mic according to your needs. The black screens are free of any rips or holes as well. Dark and even colored.

It should be noted that these mics had one major flaw. The two thumb screws on these mics often got stripped from over tightening as the screw itself was soft and made of magnesium. You think the Japanese would have done a better job designing these mics as they do everything very well. This mic needed a new screw and thumb screws. I personally installed a stainless steel screw and had a machine shop in town custom make several thumb screws for me made of strong, corrosion free stainless steel. the parts weren\'t cheap but damn...are they effective. I had the thumb screws made at the same diameter but 50% wider as seen in pic # 9. To the untrained eye...you would never even know the mic was improved upon.

You will NEVER over tighten or strip this mic again. The job is perfect and built to last. If you want a DM-16 that look stock but will never break again then this is your girl.

There is an original 20 foot cable with a 1/4 inch male end connector attached. The cable is soft, pliable and free of any damage. More than enough length for ant desk or floor stand. These cables are pretty hard to come by as they use the smaller Japanese thread size similar to the American 5/8 Amphenol but even smaller. You find these mics all the time missing their cables so hold onto the one it comes with as they are worth a chunk of change just by themselves.

I\'d give the mic a solid 9 + on a scale of 1 - 10.

As with all my vintage microphones...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that\'s fair but the purchase price would be refunded.
