Vintage 1960\'s KLH Model Twenty-Seven (27) AM/FM Stereo Receiver Amp-Very Rare:
$250.00

This is a vintage 1960\'s KLH Model Twenty-Seven (27) AM/FM Stereo Receiver System, all solid state. The receiver has been electronically restored. All new electrolytic capacitors have been installed of the same values as the originals throughout the unit, new transistors have been installed in the preamp board and on the power amp boards as well as the main output transistors on the back of the unit. All mylar capacitors on the preamp board were replaced with Sprague \"orange drops\" capacitors of the same values as the originals.

Everything now operates and sounds as Henry Kloss intended it to with this receiver. The AM and FM tuners both pull in stations strongly and they don\'t seem to drift at all. The phono preamp sounds nice and has an adjustable gain stage switch on the back of the unit. Tape and Aux inputs sound nice as well. The Aux input also has an adjustable gain stage switch on the back of the unit for it and it works as intended as well.

All switches and controls were cleaned with DeOxit.

This is one of the best solid-state, if not the best, stereo receivers from the 1960\'s that I have ever come across. A very nice simple receiver catering to the \"New England sound\". These were built like tanks by KLH from the mid-1960\'s to the late-1960\'s when Henry Kloss was still at the helm of KLH. It is one of his designs and the build quality and the sound shows it.

Has all the original knobs and dials, and knob inserts. These usually go missing over time. Good cosmetic condition with some blemishes, tarnishand scratches.

This is an early example of the Model Twenty-Seven, as it has a low serial number! Serial #000203. I found no date stamp in the unit, but if I were to guess, I\'d say a build date of early 1966.

This is your chance to own a VERY RARE piece of American audio history, made by an equally historically important person to the audio industry. This one is NOT a parts unit, it is ready to go. Most of these that do come up for sale are usually non-functioning, or for parts. This is arguably the only restored one you will come across on .

Even though it is fully electronically restored, it is being sold in AS_IS condition, with NO RETURNS, due to the age and nature of vintage electronics. With that said, you shouldn\'t have any issues for a long time.

I\'m including a scan copy of the factory service manual, a rare thing on its own, for the next owner to have. You shouldn\'t need to use it, but its a nice thing to have.

Please note that shipping is expensive because this receiver is HEAVY! Nearly 20lbs!
