Vintage 1962 Austin Enterprises ALCOA Aluminum Chess Set and Display Case:

You are offerding on a very nice chess set designed by Austin Cox for the Alcoa Aluminum Co. in 1962. Individual pieces are simple but dramatic forms of solidaluminum, with the dark pieces anodized black on the sides. The set fits into awalnut display case with sliding blue tint Plexiglas panel that can be wallmounted but is also a very striking piece on a shelf. The pieces range in size from the king at almost 5\" tall down tothe pawn at 3.75\". Each piece is stamped Austin Enterprises 1962. The setoriginally came with a matching board but I don’t have it.

The set was actively used and the pieces have some minornicks and scratches. The display case has some discoloration on the top andback but does not take away from a straight on presentation as shown from thepicture on my piano.
