Up for sale is thisvintage1965 Ludwig Jazz Festival model 8 lug Snare Drum.This snare sounds exactly like it\'s supposed to, tight and crisp with no over-ring!!

This is listed as Seller-Refurbished because:

I took aLudwig 10\"x14\"marching snare drum shell and cut itto 5 1/2\"x14\".It\'s the nice3 plywood shell with rock maple reinforcing rings. Iput thebottomreinforcing ring back onand glued it in place, a perfect fit! I\'ve down dozens of these conversions(this one was done with a lot of experience!). I then cut a new bearing edge with my table router so it\'s nice and smooth, and I cut two new snare beds.

Theserial number on the keystone badge is207444, and the drumisstill stamp dated Sep 8 1965 inside.All of the parts except the two rims and two lugs are original to the drum. The butt plate and P-83 have the Ludwig script logo on them.The drum also has a round knob/round feltinternal muffler/tonecontrol.

One of the lugs wasbroken and the onlychrome replacement I could find locally is inpoor/fair condition on the chrome plating. I mounted that one on the back side (see pic. #5), and the lug to the left of that has a EPS J 109 carved into the side of the lug. You could replace those two lugs or leave itas is.

Both matching rims are newer with excellent chrome plating on both of them.The original white marine pearl wraprolls into the shell like they used to built them, and one thing I like about this drum is the top is 100% perfect ~in-round~ and the bottom side is within 1/16\". Both heads rotate super smoothly around their bearing edges, and this help contribute to a easily tuned and nice sounding snare drum.

The original white marine pearl finish is very nice with little fade, very white still, not all yellowed.

14 of the 16tension rods are brand new with washers on them, the other 2 are out of my parts box. Iinvested into a brand new set of20 strand sound percussion snare wires, and matching brand new Remo heads. The top head is a Remo WeatherMaster Ambassador Coated head, and the bottom head is a Remo WeatherMaster Ambassador snare-side clear head.

Additional notes on condition: There are two leftover factory holes from the original muffler being mounted at the badge panel(marching drum style) and another non-original hole is plugged with wood putty(see pic #4). I also repaired a small area by the 3 ply seam that I wasn\'t happy with. As seen in the pictures there is some white paint loss on the insides andon the reinforcing rings, but I made the decision to leave it original un-touched vs. painting it white again. You could paint the inside again if you want too, it would cover those mentioned area\'s.
