Vintage 1972 Cartier Red 18k Gp Cube Lighter Mint In Box - Rare & Hard To Find For Sale
Am selling this for a client this week. It was gifted to her years ago and has never been used.. . it was found stored in a drawer when she was cleaning out her housepreparing for an out of state move.
My research shows that it is an extremely rare collector's item since Cartier only made a few of these lighters in Japan during 1972. There are not many to be found on the Internet and only a few have surfaced for sale at antique estate sales and on . Cartier has not made lighters in Japan since the 1970s.
These were manufactured in black, red and green lacquer with 18K gold trims. This one is fully stamped on the bottom and the inside top cap is stamped with Cartier's interlocking 'C' logo. There is more stamped in that tiny space but I cannot see it well. There is no original paperwork here but it does come still in its original red leather Cartier box which is in good clean shape (next to last picture shows a tiny bit of sticker residue on the lower right corner of the bottom).
So here is an opportunity for you to own a Cartier Cube Lighter in Red Enamel, trimmed with 18K goldplate and one of the last made in Japan still in its original gift box. There is no paperwork and I don't know where I would look for a serial number but have a feeling it is on the paperwork which is no longer here. The lighter measures 2 3/8"L X 1/2"W X 1/2".
I think these use butane and this one needs to be filled. The flint is good and it producesspark. I see no wear and it has no odor -- has never been used.
Nice gift. Shipping is $5 paid by winner. Any questions, please ask -- Because I am selling this for a client there will be no returns.
