Lots of beautiful colors found in this lovely \"End of Day\" Bakelite Bracelet!!
Several different colors of Bakelite were used in making the bracelet, including various shades of gold, rust, semi translucent celery green, and butterscotch in a beautifully marbled pattern. The bracelet has a domed shape andis 3/8\" wide; it has a2.5\" interior diameter; itweighs 23 grams.
Over the years the color of the bracelet underwent some pretty dramatic color changes and the patina of the bracelet had changed to what is often referred to as a dark \"pea soup\" color, and its translucence had been lost. But no more...
This fabulous vintage Bakelite bracelet has been restored to its original end of day semi translucent green, butterscotch, rust,white and brown colors. The bracelet has a heavily marbled color pattern. LOTS of beautiful semi translucent colors in this beauty!
This Vintage Bakelite bracelet is now in Mint condition and its authenticity was confirmed using Simichrome polish before being refurbished.
NOTE: As part of the refurbishment process, surface dirt and the discoloration of the Bakelite that occurs from exposure to sunlight is removed. Sunlight not only causes the color of the Bakelite to change, but sunlight also drawsthe chemical in Bakelite to the surface. When testing with Simichrome polish, this chemical (pheno-formaldehyde) is what causes the chemical reaction that changes the pink color of the Simichrome polish to a nicotine yellow.
So until the bracelet has been exposed to sunlight for some period of time, the bracelet will not test positive with Simichrome polish. However, this bracelet passes the hot water test for Bakelite with flying colors!! There are no chips or cracks in the bracelet.
