Up for sale is this beautiful 1930s era Gibson made Kel Kroydon banjo. You\'ll see these similar \"blue\" banjos branded Gibson and S.S. Stewart as well, though not many were branded Kel Kroydon, as this was also a brand name Gibson used for it\'s wooden toys back in the day.
This tenor banjo is unmolested and a really cool piece of history. It features a blue stained maple neck and rim, and a double bound maple resonator with a beautiful pearloid back flower overlay. The fingerboard is also pearloid with floral fret markers, and the headstock has a pearloid overlay with logo and another flower! 19 frets, 24 brackets, 11\" head. Original \"Grover Pat.\" tuners and original tailpiece tailpiece. Brass tone ring and metal stabilizer bar inside.
This banjo is in good condition for it\'s age. Structurally, it\'s perfect, with no cracks in the wood, a nice straight neck with just the right amount of relief, all metal parts in good shape and accounted for. A couple of the inlays have faded a bit, and the back inlay shows some wear as well. very minor lifting of the back overlay near some of the edges. Also some minor finish separation near the headstock seams. Minor fret wear. No pitting or rust! It plays great with nice low action and has a very loud bell-like tone. Just cleaned and restrung! It includes a burgundy hardshell case which looks old but not original
