Vintage 4pc Lot Margot de Taxco Jewelry Sterling Silver Design 5204 Demi Parure:
$850.00

Up for sale is a Mexican Silver demi-parure consisting of a necklace, bracelet and earrings from the dimensional interwoven and sinuous design line 5204 by Margot de Taxco; they have a combined weight of 5 ounces troy (or 164 g) on a digital scale prior to packing. Following is a breakdown and brief description of each:

  • BRACELET: 7 1/4\" wearable length, 7/8\" wide with double set subsurface linkage of soldered construction allowing for stabilized width but individual link movement. The subsurface clasp (box house and tongue-in lever) utilizes the bolt ends and is well integrated into the repetitive scrolling pattern of the bracelet when fastened (crisp closure and wears securely); it has a bead tipped stem release with safety soldered rings and fine gauge linkage. Fully hallmarked: MARGO DE TAXCO 5204; STERLING MEXICO surrounding MADE IN; and Eagle Assay 16.
  • EARRINGS: 7/8\" x 1 1/8\" screw back style hardware (wearable for all types and original as they set yet may be converted solely pierced wear). Fully hallmarked betwixt the two with one reading: MARGOT DE TAXCO 5204 and the other: STERLING MEXICO surrounding MADE IN plus Eagle Assay 16.

This beautiful group was sourced from a San Leandro Silver collection beyond this and having some familiarity with the markings I do not know their history.

The final photo is of Mexican Silver pieces being offered inseparate concurrently running sales - so if you see something which piquesyour interest, please check out the individual sale(s). This sale is onlyfor the Margot de Taxco as the pieces are shown in the Gallery Photo.

Please refer to images for your take on age, design andcondition. Craft date by mark is between 1955 - 1978, somewhere between 40 and 60 years old with an early all silver design line number 5204. (The ALL silver Margot de Taxco pieces have design numbers ranging from 5100 through 5790; the enamels are a whole other numbering system. This courtesy info was found in Bille Hougart\'s book \'The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and HALLMARKS\'.)

Observation: While all links are the same width, the clasps of necklace and bracelet clasp mechanisms are of different widths so they will not successfully link together to offer up an altered length of the necklace. It is for this reason along with the safety chain set-ups: necklace\'s safety has a clasp to secure it closed but the bracelet\'s is fastened into bolt rings and has a fixed length to open the bracelet enough to slip over the hand, it does not unfasten, follow? I see no condition issues of note. All pieces have a developing wear patina consisting of light and/or superficial rub wear consistent with use and touch and deeper oxidation in the recessed areas. The set has a highly handsome presentation and overall condition is likewise. I find the design to be as relevant for wear today as it was when first crafted. Beautiful and feminine, of good weight along with pedigree markings - any interest?

The asking price for the group is good (and fair) for a re-seller leaving adequate room for them to make their money; and if you\'re the end user, well the price is awesome saving you a bunch of your hard earned bucks. You you never know this matched set just might make somebody\'s upcoming Holiday Season extra special ;) -- always happy to entertain an offer, just ask. Thanks!
