Scarce Wendell August Sterling Studebaker Avanti ashtray.
The original Wendell August Forge facility is a historic landmark in Mercer County Pennsylvania. It is the last remaining working forge in the state.
Anyone can visit and watch the artisans create plates, bowls and other unique pieces. This piece commemorates the Studebaker Avanti car.This very scarce Sterling Silver plate came from the estate Sale of John O\'Sullivan of Detroit, Michigan.Mr. O\'Sullivan was an avid antique collector and brewery owner for many years.The August Forge is perhaps best known for it hammered aluminum.In tradition with that this solid Sterling ashtray was made to look like hammered aluminum.Many raised parts are diamond cut.
At todays silver spot price this piece would scrap for over $300.00
