This is a vintage ANRI hand carved \"Lucky Pourer\" beverage pourer. This is a full figure mechanical pourer featuring a gentleman with a coattail. When not in use, this pourer acts as a bottle stopper, sealing the beverage inside from the elements outside. To pour a beverage (my preference is a nice dry wine) from the stoppered bottle, press down on his coattail and he uncaps the bottle, revealing the spout. He will stay in this uncapped position during the pouring. When done pouring, return him to his original position to once again seal the bottle. His head is attached to an elastic cord so that you can move it in any direction you so desire. When released, the head snaps back to its normal position. This pourer measures just under 5 1/2 inches in height including the air return tube. It is in perfect working order and is in near mint condition except for some fading around the base and on his hat and the darkening of the cork (this latter most probably from corking too full of a bottle for too long). Pictures of a very \"Lucky Pourer\" appear on page 167 of the definitive \"anri Woodcarvings\" by Philly Rains and Donald Bull.
