Description: Antique Rival Herb tablets advertising tin. It is from 1900 - 1910 by the Rival Herb Company of Detroit. The box is a cigar-style and contains a simple hinged lid for easy opening and closing. The box is predominantly red with metallic gold tone decoration and black writing. I took pictures showing the disparity bewtween what the tin looks like at different angles. In one light the cracking in the paint which has revealed the lustrous gold tone beneath and all details are hard to make out. However, with a slight shift you can still make out all of the detail and writing.As I write this, there are nicer examples of this tin for sale. However, I have priced this significantly cheaper.Measurements: 3 1/4\" wide by 2 1/8\" deep and 1 1/4\" tall.Condition: Fair condition. Shallow indentations in several sides. Most noticeable is the cracking of the paint which is similar to crazing in pottery. This cracking is very noticeable on all sides and especially under light. With that said, a different angle allows you to see all of the detail and writing fine too. Otherwise, just general wear and light soiling. Please inspect the pictures.
