Here is still another great post war model from Philco. It is themodel 50-925 AM/FM tube radio from 1950. Thecabinet has beenpolished with my 4 step process thatbrings out the original factoryfinish. The knobs, back and tube location sticker on the bottomare original. The deep marbled Bakelite cabinet withlarge dial give it an outstanding look. Checkout the photos!

This radio plays both the AMbroadcast band and FM band with that warm, soft “tube sound. AM receptionisthrough a standard loop antenna which is attached to the back of theradio. There is also a terminal on the back to hook up an extra AM antenna. FMuses a wire that hangs off of the back and also allows for an extra FM antennato be attached to the end of the wire. It easily picks upstations up and down thedial.

Thoroughly bench tested for a minimum often days, this unique radio is ready for you to use and enjoy. If yourcollection is lacking a great example of a post-war Philco AM/FM radio, now isyour chance. Since it is fully restored you will want to listen to itevery day!

I went through the chassis and replaced all of the electrolytic(filter) capacitors, the major cause of hum. I then replaced all of thewax/paper capacitors. The resistors were then checked and any more than 20% oftheir original value were replaced. All of the tubes were tested using my Precision 612 tube tester andtwo of the six tubes were replaced. The volume control, bandswitch and tuning capacitor were lubed so they now operate smoothly andquietly. I also replaced the power cord with a polarized cord for yoursafety.

Philco used unreliable Selenium rectifiers in some of their radios. As they get old, these rectifiers tend to fail and burn up. I replaced it witha silicone diode for safety and reliability.

I then carefully cleaned and polished the chassis to a pleasingluster.

Lastly, the intermediate andradio frequencycircuits were aligned to their peak utilizing my HP8601A RF sweep generator and my Leader LS8050 oscilloscope.

Dimensions are: 13.625x7.625x7inch.

This will be a great addition to anyone\'s collection.
