Vintage Bandana 1950s Era - Geometric Key Design ~ Tiger Brand:
$5.00

I have for sale a vintage red tiger brand bandana. It has been used and washed a multitude of times so it is now buttery soft cotton. Some discoloration/stain, see last photo, but it does not take away from this vintage piece of Americana.  No rips or tears.

Makes a great headband or scarf because of the buttery softness.

I have several for sale, make an offer and we can ship cheaply...

History of the red bandana

For centuries this cotton patterned cloth has persisted as a perfect specimen of form and fashion.

The iconic red bandana has been around for hundreds of years.

However, until the Wild West movies hit their streak of popularity the red rag that was essential to the Cowboys working out on the range, it found its usefulness among the working class in America.

In the 1930s coal miners used the rag to symbolize the solidarity which brought the term \"redneck\" to America vernacular, in the 40s Rosie the Riveter made a practical fashion statement with her hair, and in the 70s gays used the iconic rag with its different colors to communicate their preferences.

We can thank icons such as John Wayne, Rosie the Riveter and as well as Tupac who all found unique ways to keep the bandana trend going.

In 1986 a red, black and white bandana was introduced into a collection in the Cooper Hewett museum.

Enjoy a piece of Americana.
