Vintage Banjo 4 String Bird\'s Eye 1920-30 :
$275.00

This vintage 4 string banjo is in very nice condition!  I am not an expert in this category of items, so I will detail as best as possible. It is unmarked as far as I can see, except on the bridge which is marked \"Grover Non Tip\".  Overall it measures aprox 30\" long, the neck itself measures aprox 18 1/2\" long. One bracket is missing as shown in the photo. The diameter of the banjo is aprox 11 1/4\", and inside the metal hoop measures 10 3/4\". The skin looks to be original. The inlay on the neck and top look to be mother of pearl. Tuning pegs are all in good shape and all look original. Wood is beautiful birds eye!  The case is lined but has some damage as shown. Banjo slips inside the case and is well protected, but the closure on the side of the case is missing. I have been told that the strings are ukelele strings and the gentleman that played this banjo put them on because he liked the sound better than regular banjo strings.

This banjo is from a non smoking home. It will be lovingly and carefully packed for shipping. Please ask if you have any questions or need any additional pictures!

Update..A generous user has given me some information that may possibly pertain to this banjo. I cannot verify the information since I am not an expert, but I appreciate the insight very much!  I have been told it may be a 1920\'s/30\'s Slingerland MayBell 17 fret tenor banjo.  These were manufactured in Chicago by the Slingerland Drum Co.

Since I am able to verbally trace the history of this banjo, I know it was purchased in Chicago in the early 1920s.
