Gorgeous antique piece! Just wish I knew what it is. No hanging sleeve as might be found on a window treatment. Also can\'t visualize it on a bed, but thought it may be some kind of canopy?
About 64 inches wide. 60 Inches long. Very large, but doesn\'t really appear it in the photos.
Embroidered area is about 28 inches top to bottom. That is in excellent condition. A few loose threads, but because I think it is worked with some kind of yarn that is thick enough to not really split or ravel. Just a couple knots have worked their way to the front.
Crochet edge is about 3 inches wide. Not many loose threads there. The one area in a red point that has come undone can be seen in the photo.
A couple stains in the open area. Also in photos. Some very small holes too. Fabric is maybe a heavy linen. It has a woven pattern in it.
Well, so far I have only told you what\'s wrong with this beautiful fabric piece.
It really is gorgeous! Embroidery and crochet work are perfectly executed. Even with the flaws, it is wonderful to see!
Very colonial, I think. For you who enjoy the history of things, I can tell you this was purchased at an sale of contents of the historic Centre Farm in Lynnfield, Massachusetts. No paper documentation. I bought it there myself. Was an amazing sale!You never know what you will find in Nana Potts\' Cupboard!
